Not sure I understand. Just like the market may run out of onions it may run out of bitcoin or gold or whatever standard is agreed upon. The price mechanism corrects the “shortage”. The bitcoin standard is not a bitcoin peg. You maybe SOL for onions (or btc) for a time but this is quickly resolved so long as a peg does not exist and a free market exists. Btc is better than onions because we know 21 million less all that are lost exist and easier to transport than onions.
