Bitcoin Is Monetary Energy At Rest

Bitcoin detractor Jeffrey Robinson in Bitcoin: Naked Truth About Bitcoin argues bitcoiners are “…ignoring the difference between saving and hoarding. . . . savings are lent out to entrepreneurs who build economies, hoarding sits in a shoebox at the bottom of a closest and does not grow an economy. . . .” equating “hodling” to criminal activity. (Quoted from Chapter 3: Cui Bono?)

While Robinson implies bitcoiners should be jailed, he does make a valid distinction between hoarding and saving. But he limits his definition of savings as lending to entrepreneurs to suit his agenda, failing to recognize that “hodlers” also wear the hats of consumers and entrepreneurs. Hodling is dynamic growing monetary energy at rest, locked in a box with a private key, waiting to be unleashed at an opportune time by the hodler. Paper dollars in a shoebox is static depreciating monetary energy at rest rushing headlong towards its intrinsic value of worthlessness. Not a wise hodle! Plus these paper dollars are printed at will to favor a particular agenda for those with the power to inflate.

Bitcoiners are growing the economy in the ways they see fit. It is this feature that sticks in the craw of envious observers of this new wealth and individual…
